Review: Birds Eye Veggie Made Penne with Cheddar Cheese Sauce

Today I’m reviewing Birds Eye Steamfresh Veggie Made Penne with Cheddar Cheese Sauce.  This is a pasta side dish in a steamer bag in the frozen food section of your grocer.

What do you do when you know you should be eating more vegetables but you don’t really like them?  Trickery!  That is what this is, somehow Birds Eye figured out how to make pasta using zucchini and lentils.  Enough that one serving equals a serving of vegetables.  The sauce helps make everything tasty so you think you are eating pasta when in reality it’s veg.  I’m in.

Look there are only a few green vegetables I like and I get tired of those real darn quick.  But this Penne with Cheddar Cheese Sauce is like having a side of mac and cheese without the guilt.  Plus the steamer bag means it cooks fast and I don’t have another pan to wash.

This is not a low calorie dish, but nothing with cheese sauce is.  But it has to be better for you than mashed potatoes.   Try it.

Birds Eye seems to be developing a whole line of different Veggie Made products (see link above) I have only tried several of these pasta type dishes so that’s all I can speak to, but so far they have been pretty good.
